UWC Italian Foundation Raises Funds For Scholarships

The UWC Italian Foundation is a non-profit making association made in 2015 to raise funds for scholarships and promote the UWC esteems and educational model.

Proceeding to fundraising activities, the Foundation has reinforced the presence of UWC alumni on its Board of Directors: notwithstanding David Halpert, Darren Huston (UWCAD 83–85), is currently a Board part.

In 2017–18, an enormous piece of the Foundation’s work was devoted to the ambitious project of providing new facilities to be used as accommodation for students and teachers, as well as for study purposes. Thanks to the generous support of alumnus David Halpert (UWCAD 83–85), the Foundation was able to initiate a complex negotiation for purchasing property in Duino.

When the acquisition is finalized the venue will be given on loan for free use to the College. The property, which measures over 2,000 square meters spread over several floors, has a swimming pool and overlooks the sea. It will accommodate about 25 students and teachers.
