Christmas travel weather forecast

Forecasters says, "Most of the people are traveling for the Christmas eve this week should see calm climate."

“Tranquil weather conditions through Christmas Day will make for a pleasant stocking stuffer from Mother Nature for those going through the occasion,” National Weather Service meteorologist Peter Mullinax said.

Significant travel center points in the Northeast and Midwest should see clear skies on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Much of the central and eastern USA should have no major travel concerns on Christmas Eve, except for sketchy morning mist, the Weather Channel said.

Once that big rainmaker moves from the Southeast, the main critical travel inconvenience spot will be in the Southwest on Christmas Eve.

A large area of high pressure will bring mild and dry conditions to a big part of the country for Christmas Eve: “Santa could give Rudolph’s red nose a break across the eastern half of the U.S. Christmas Eve night as dry conditions will be common for most eastern regions,” Mullinax said.

Who Loves Travel Advisors the Most? It’s Millennials, Not Boomers

A survey of travelers found that it’s baby boomers — not millennials — who are bound to sidestep travel advisors in favor of going online to book trips.

Human Touch

“What the younger generation are stating is they completely need human touch at the right time in the process,” said Simon Ferguson, president and MD of Travelport Americas. “That is the key thing.”

The Travelport overview, which was released in November, found that 50 percent of millennials or Gen Y (those born from 1981 to 1996) and 25 percent of Gen Z (those born from 1997 to 2012) nearly always turn to travel experts for suggestions, either travel specialists or visit administrators.

Swing Back

The extra need for human touch is something Embark started concentrating on 10 years back in the face of the technology boom in travel, according to Danziger.

That focal point of assets has started to pay off.

“They (customers) need that communication. They don’t need you to book a trip and set it and forget it,” Danziger said. “It’s hard for us as adsvisors to convey on each customer like that, yet that is what’s to come.”

The swing back toward human touch is a balancing act for many travel companies, according to Ferguson.

Good Digital Experience Matters

The want of human touch in booking doesn’t mean companies should suddenly refocus their technological advances, according to the survey.

Hiring a Travel Startup CMO

Seldom do early stage new travel companies have a chief marketing officer (CMO) — and that is something worth being thankful for, according to two experts in venture capital.

Rampant job title inflation is a problem in travel startups, with an alphabet soup of C-level titles — including CMO — impeding growth in some companies.

Hemmeter, who has established a few brands in the travel sector, accepts that it is better for the organization to get progressively experienced talent when the business is full grown.

As the organization develops and requires a progressively experienced individual, it is improbable that the initial CMO is going to relinquish the job title.

Calling it “probably the greatest hazard” for early stage startupss, Hemmeter says that new organizations unable to “attract world-class talent” some of the time present the CMO title to a youngster who is capable however needs understanding.

To be a part of travel industry for long time, Darren Huston is has all the knowledge to make successful strategies.

With regards to the CMO title, new businesses ought to be extremely cautious before including it.

“Someone shouldn’t have the CMO title except if they have a huge amount of applicable experience, one heck of a toolbox and a great network of people that they can call on.”

Online Travel Booking Abandonment Rates Reach 90%

The global travel booking abandonment rate averages 90.74% for 2019 up until now, with voyage and ferry websites encountering the most elevated levels of deserting, as indicated by new research figures from Sale Cycle.

The information covers Jan to Oct 2019, and sees at abandonment rates across 5 distinctive travel types, and abandonment trends during the time to date.

Individuals take some time & effort to explore travel buys, which is the reason travel abandonment rates are higher than the retail average of 84%. Inside the various kinds of travel sites, there are varieties. For instance, Cruise and Ferry sites have high deserting rates (97%) while the rate for Hotel sites is 84.63%. Variations in abandonment rates are often because of the kind of the type of travel product booked, the price, and the time and effort needed to book.

For example, a cruise can be an expensive purchase so buyers will take their time to assess their options before finally booking. They may even take a month or two, and visit several sites during this research phase. People may begin and abandon the booking process several times as they check out different destinations, options and extras.

Years ago, Darren Huston CEO of Priceline capture revenue in hotel search and the company made its largest purchase ever to branch out in restaurant bookings.

By contrast, hotel bookings can be much simpler. Many don't require payment in advance, which simplifies the procedure, while it's a purchase that is bound to be reserved near the date, for quick weekend trips or business for example.

Graham Charlton, editor in chief at Salecycle, said: "Even though much abandonment is inevitable because people take time to research, there’s still a lot that travel sites can do to minimize the problem. Great user experience always helps, as it makes it easier for travel shoppers to find the information they need, and to complete bookings with a minimum of friction."

The new research also looked at booking abandonment trends across the year, which reveals some interesting patterns.
